Become a Certified Listener Volunteer
The BISA Helpline is powered by volunteers like you
BISA CERTIFIED LISTENERS
Think of Certified Listener Operators as individuals dedicated to listening and providing support. As an operator, you will have the opportunity to connect with service users in need of support and offer up to four sessions of counsel. Through the BISA platform, you can easily contact a service user and schedule a convenient time for both of you.
Our volunteers receive comprehensive online training and mentoring from our team to prepare them for their roles. Additionally, you will be supported by the BISA Support Team and fellow operators whenever you need to talk or debrief. Our dedicated support team is committed to the well-being of our volunteers and BISA operators.
BISA HELPLINE SUPPORT BUDDIES
Do you have a background in counselling, psychology, or support work?
Are you an empathetic? Are you compassionate? Are you a good listener?
Are you able to contribute a minimum of 1-hour per week part of a greater purpose in life? If so we need you.
BISA is seeking experienced individuals to join our BISA Team as Support Buddies. In this role, you will provide guidance and a supportive ear to our Certified Listener Volunteers who are on the front lines. These volunteers may need to debrief or talk to someone after a challenging session. As a Support Buddy, you will also assist in BISA’s training processes by facilitating 1-on-1 scripted roleplay sessions with trainees, offering both guidance and support.
BISA will provide all necessary training materials and tools to help you effectively support our Certified Listener Volunteers.
